How are playoff seeding ties broken in basketball?

Edited

Playoff seeding ties are broken in the following order:

  1. Head-to-Head Results: If the tied teams played each other, the team with the better head-to-head record receives the higher seed.

  2. Wins Above the Tie: If still tied, the team with the strongest wins against higher-seeded teams receives the higher seed.

  3. Wins Below the Tie: If the tie remains, the team with more wins against lower-seeded teams receives the higher seed.

  4. Coin Toss/Random Drawing: If all other tiebreakers are exhausted, a random selection determines the higher seed.
